The Candy Cane Wrasse Hologymnosus rhodonotus is known by several other names: the Redback Ring Wrasse, Redback Longface Wrasse, and the Red Cigar Wrasse. Changing colors throughout their life, our juvenile Candy Cane Wrasse is white with red stripes.
This Wrasse is a good candidate for a fish-only marine aquarium with fish larger than it is because it will see crustaceans and other inverts as food. A lidded aquarium with rocks or other places to hide will make a good environment for the Candy Cane Wrasse. A deep sandy substrate will provide not only a place to sleep, but a place to hide to escape danger.
This member of the Labridae family is a carnivore and its diet should include meaty frozen and dry food, Mysis shrimp and brine shrimp.
